Why We’re Changing the Age Recommendation

We have decided, after much consideration, to change the age recommendation of our game GNOME KINGDOM to 10 years and up. Here I explain why we have come to this decision and what this will mean.

🌿 A Small (But Important) Update From Us 🌿

When we first released GNOME KINGDOM, we set the recommended age to 12+.
It felt like the safe choice — after all, it’s a tactical game with some tough decisions, and we wanted to make sure players would have the best possible experience.

But as we've gotten to know our game better — through your feedback from buyers, play sessions, and many, many rounds ourselves — it’s become clear:
We should have trusted our instincts and gone with 10+.

This was something we debated a lot before release.
But as a small board game publisher releasing their first big international game, some lessons you simply learn the hard way. And that's okay — as long as you learn and grow from it.
(Still, we can’t help but feel a little sad, thinking we might have scared off some wonderful families who would have loved it.)

So here’s the honest update:

🧡 From now on, we strongly recommend GNOME KINGDOM for players aged 10+ and up.
🎲 The box will still say 12+, because we can’t change that physically now — but we hope you’ll look past it.
👧👦 And as always, it depends on your child’s experience with games — some 10-year-olds will be absolutely ready to dive in.

We truly believe that GNOME KINGDOM shines brightest when it brings families and friends together around the table.
